Pre-Colonized with Bacterial Spores

  • Contains trace minerals
  • Has enormous surface area to colonize nitrifying bacteria
  • Provides a suitable medium to hold rooted plants in place
  • Kiln fired
  • Retains oxygen
  • pH neutral

No Fertilizer • No Soil • No Peat • No Compost

  • Natural material (not chemically coated or dyed). Fills a typical 10 gal. (37.8 L) tank with approximately 2.5 in. (6.35 cm ) deep bed of substrate.
  • Maximum density- you would require a minimum of twice the weight of competitors substrate to achieve our suggested bed depth!
  • Contains over 25 micro and macro nutrients.

When using aquatic plants, the available oxygen at the bottom of the tank is generally low and may contain toxic gases. Using the MICROBE-LIFT/BLOOM & GROW Biologically Alive Substrate for Planted Aquariums will help to provide not only a good plant stability, but will make available essential microbes, nutrients and circulation providing additional oxygen availability to plants.

Description

Usage

  • It is recommended to use a minimum of 1/2 lb. per gallon of aquarium water.
  • For planted, aquascaped deep bed aquariums use 3/4 lb. minimum to accomplish your desired effect.
  • Using more then 2 lb. per gallon of water is not recommended.

pH Buffer

  • The high ion exchange capacity is 45 meq per 100 g.
  • This assists in absorbing excess alkalinity or acidity in your aquarium’s water.
  • MICROBE-LIFT/BLOOM & GROW Biologically Alive Substrate creates a natural environment.
  • The material is natural and is thermally activated through drying at temperatures exceeding 245º F.
  • This provides assurance that the biological substrate is clean, and dry inert mineral.

Cleaning

  • Little if any cleaning is required.
  • After placing the substrate into your aquarium lay the bag on top of the substrate.
  • Slowly introduce the water into the tank.
  • This will minimize turbidity.

Planted Aquariums

  • For planted aquariums you might want to consider a bottom layer of quality soil pellets or soil fertilizer for the first one-third of your total substrate.
  • The top two-thirds should be MICROBE-LIFT/BLOOM & GROW Biologically Alive Substrate.
  • This combination will provide plants with an ample supply of nutrients which will then be readily available to the plant roots.

We also recommend using MICROBE-LIFT/BLOOM & GROW Microbial Root Dip for optimal root development.

The negatively charged substrate sites attract and hold positive ions until needed by plant roots.
