What do I want in the garden in 2025?  Color?  Yes!  Privacy?  Yes, that too.  April showers bring May flowers, so, this month we want to use the good days to clean up and stock up.  We will be ready for the shrubs and flowers in May…

  1. First, make a list of what you would like.
  2. Second, plan it out—figure the work schedule, the costs, and what help you may need, if any. What would you like to change this year?
  3. Pruning is always a good idea. Winter winds will have left damaged branches.  They need to be trimmed off.
  4. Will you add a composter this year? New compost, for free, and an easy way to get rid of weeds (without flowers or seeds, of course!) is a big saving
  5. New tools? I always love new tools and new gloves for my gardening.  It’s the initial inspiration to get out there and do something!
  6. Some of us are not getting any younger. Perhaps a stool to help with the lower jobs, like weeding, this year.
  7. Yes, April is primarily a “stock-up” and repair month, but it is good to start on areas around the walkways near your house. It will totally tidy the whole look of the house.
  8. Make a landscape design! What a wonderful way to pass a rainy day.
  9. Consider setting aside a vegetable garden area, start with your favorites. I have always wanted to grow my own asparagus!  Check the compatibility charts.
  • Exercise!! Be ready when the time for digging comes. Be ready, physically.
