MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II is designed specifically for pond waters that contain marine life. Its highly-specialized microbial consortium of nitrifying cultures are specially formulated to eliminate ammonia via a natural biological process termed nitrification. The cultures contained in MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II will establish, promote or stabilize and maintain nitrification in pond waters, eliminating the toxic effect of ammonia. MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II liquid nitrifying bacteria contains select strains of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter. Nitrosomonas convert ammonia to nitrite and Nitrobacter convert nitrite to nitrate. MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II comprises select microorganisms that are autotrophic-able to use carbon dioxide as the sole source of carbon-and are relatively slow growing, requiring specific conditions for optimum growth with typical cell division rates from 8 to 16 hours. Their performance and rate of growth are impacted by the environmental parameters required for nitrification. They are also highly oxygen-sensitive, requiring high dissolved oxygen levels (greater than 2 mg/L) to achieve maximum growth rates. Nitrite is produced by beneficial bacteria in the pond and the oxidation of harmful waste ammonia excreted by fish. Even though nitrite is not as toxic as ammonia, it is still very damaging to the health of fish.

Barley straw and selected natural peats have been processed and packaged to make them easy and clean to apply. Manufactured using an exclusive proprietary pelleting process that eliminates the use of wheat, corn and other binders, the barley straw is harvested and stored under climatic conditions that assure the quality of these essential ingredients. MICROBE-LIFT/Barley Straw Pellets + works in much the same way as barley straw...only faster! Whereas barley straw works by releasing certain natural chemicals as it biodegrades, so do the pellets in MICROBE-LIFT/Barley Straw Pellets +, only the breakdown compounds are released faster: dispersing equally throughout the water; reacting photochemically with sunlight; and activating humic acids to produce hydrogen peroxide-an oxidizing agent that also helps to keep the water clear-naturally and at a low level of release. MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme is a full-function water conditioner in a single product. It has been formulated to condition new water (instantly "ages"). MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme has been formulated with buffers to help stabilize the treated water's pH and alkalinity (acid-neutralizing capacity). It removes both ammonia and chlorine by chemically reacting with them. Essential electrolytes not only assist in buffering, but also assist in preventing osmotic shock often caused by new water. MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme detoxifies heavy metals (e.g. copper and lead) by both chelation and precipitation.

Recommendations

Perform regular water changes to keep the alkalinity (acid-neutralizing capacity) and pH stable. Use MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme, at the standard dosage rate, to eliminate and control each measured 1 mg/L, or fraction thereof, of total ammonia (= 0.85 mg/L total ammonia-nitrogen). Use a salicylate (indolphenol) type total ammonia test kit. For dissolved oxygen testing use either a DO meter or an indigo carmine test.

Contraindications

Do not use with permanganate-based or chlorite-based treatments.
Nessler's total ammonia tests will give false, high (or off scale) readings.
Winkler dissolved oxygen tests will give false, low (or zero) readings.
