“My aquarium is always so GREEN I can’t even see the fish!!” It doesn’t have to be this way.

- Are you over-feeding your fish?
- Are you doing partial water changes at least once weekly? Yes, you can do more than 20% if necessary.
- Are you using MICROBE-LIFT/SPECIAL BLEND? And, ML/GRAVEL & SUBSTRATE CLEANER?
- Do you have too many fish in the tank? Using the rule of 1 gallon of water per 1 inch of fish (3 gallons for goldfish), how does your tank do?
- PLACEMENT: where did you place the aquarium? Is it in front of a window? Do you leave the light on all day? How many hours of sunlight does it get? More than 8 hours? That will definitely grow algae.
- Do you rely on Plecosthemus or snails to clean the sides of your aquarium??
This is the simple way to determine why your tank is green with algae and your friends don’t seem to have trouble with theirs.
More fish = more nutrients.
More food = more organics.
More sunlight + nutrients + organics = more algae.
–Did you know? Anything that eats, poops.
Also, when water evaporates, only clean water leaves the tank. The importance of doing water changes is to remove the dirty water left behind and replace it with new, fresh, clean water.
