Its highly-specialized microbial consortium of nitrifying cultures are specially formulated to eliminate ammonia via a natural biological process termed nitrification. The cultures contained in MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II will establish, promote or stabilize and maintain nitrification in pond waters, eliminating the toxic effect of ammonia. MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II liquid nitrifying bacteria contains select strains of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter. Nitrosomonas convert ammonia to nitrite and Nitrobacter convert nitrite to nitrate. Like most types of mechanical/biological filters, bead filters rely on the use of a media that provides a high surface area/volume ratio. This allows for support of the necessary amount of biomass, in the form of a biofilm, to properly remove organic and inorganic waste from the water, making it suitable for fish and other normal aquatic life. Within the biofilm it is possible to carry out aerobic, facultative anaerobic, anaerobic and chemosynthetic processes if all the necessary bacterial species are present. The Differences Between MICROBE-LIFT/PL & MICROBE-LIFT/TAC
Since Ecological Laboratories is the producer of the most popular biological pond clarifier on the market, there will inevitably be questions about the differences between the two products and why one would be selected over the other. Here is a list of the basic differences with the features and benefits of those notable differences:- MICROBE-LIFT/TAC does not have photosynthetic bacteria, which is one of the keys to the performance of MICROBE-LIFT/PL and what sets it above all other biological products for ponds. Unfortunately, no one has been successful to this point at preserving photosynthetic cultures in dry form. These photosynthetic bacteria are a valuable source of MICROBE-LIFT/PL's ability to clarify water and are capable of tapping into a potent source of energy to do this-the sun. Many of these photosynthetic bacteria are also potent detoxifiers of water.
- The organisms in MICROBE-LIFT/TAC are not grown together in the same container, as the MICROBE-LIFT/PL is. As a result, you don't get the same "ecosystem in a bottle" that you get with the MICROBE-LIFT/PL, and as a result, not quite the same ability to ecologically balance your pond.
- The MICROBE-LIFT/TAC has powdered activated carbon which is well known for its abilities to clarify water by providing a point surface for bacteria to grow on. It then acts as a weighting agent to help these bacteria settle to the bottom, thus removing turbidity associated with dispersed bacteria. The carbon also acts as a detoxifier by adsorbing micro amounts of toxic materials; i.e. pesticides that can make their way into a pond.

Automatically Sets pH to 8.2 - 8.3 MICROBE-LIFT/Complete is ionically balanced with trace elements for reef systems and will create a buffered system as well. A pH of 8.0 to 8.3 and an alkalinity of 2.9 to 4.0 meq/L. (8 to 11 dKH) is necessary for salt water and reef aquariums (fish only marine aquariums need to maintain 3.5 to 5.5 meq/L. or 10 to 14 dKH) and calcium levels should be at 400 to 450 ppm. Test calcium and alkalinity levels and adjust to your individual system. Do not add more than 0.5 mL per gallon per 12 hour period. Add calcium daily and this product for optimal results. If magnesium is low use MICROBE-LIFT/Magnesium Supplement. Regular water changes are recommended. You should use the MICROBE-LIFT line of reef products to simultaneously replace any minerals that are low. Optimum water conditions are a necessity for good reef systems. Where possible start with R/O water. If tap water is used be sure to condition the water with MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme or MICROBE-LIFT/Dechlorinator +. Poultry manure is very high in nitrogen content, a factor which leads to the emission of high concentrations of ammonia when litter becomes increasingly fouled. As a result, toxic concentrations of ammonia can build up in poultry houses. Typically, ventilation is utilized to remove ammonia requiring additional heat to replace heat loss. MICROBE-LIFT/AOE-P acts to reduce the generation of ammonia from poultry litter improving bird health and reducing costs. Equine Encephalitis
The mosquito's role as a bridge vector-connecting an animal reservoir host with people-is key to a number of viral illnesses that are marked by inflammation of the brain and the membrane that surrounds it. In the U.S., the most prominent encephalitis viruses are carried by mosquitoes. Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) is the most lethal of the mosquito borne encephalitides. EEE virus is transmitted in a broad arc along the eastern coast of the United States from Michigan, east through New York to Southern New England and South to Florida and the Gulf Coast. Outbreaks of EEE occur after a wet winter and a long wet early summer, followed by a heavy storm in late summer. These conditions permit the virus to amplify among birds before being carried to human or equine hosts. Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE) can strike both horses and human beings.West Nile
The main West Nile Vector-Culex Pipiens-feeds at night and breeds only in foul, stagnant water. In conclusion, the bacterial product was effective in increasing egg mortality under the conditions of this study. The product had no detectable effect on the larvae or the pupae.
